The Tatra mountains are located in the far South of Poland. Actually for the bigger part they are located South of the Polish border, in Slovakia. As a part of the Carpathians the Tatras are the only alpine range in Poland. Every year the mountains attract several millions active tourists, who enjoy impressive scenery, fresh and healthy air and often quite poor weather circumstances. Their trips lead most often to numerous natural caves, Giewont mountain (1894 m.) and the highest peak in Poland; Rysy mountain (2503 m.).

Locals are obviously more wealthy than their countrymen in the Northeast, the Green Lungs of Poland.
